Our WASH Program

W3 works with women and girls in the rural parts of the Ashanti Region of Ghana to address water pollution. 60% of Ghana’s water bodies are polluted due to mining activities (Water Resources Commission).

Ghana’s water bodies are polluted, with many in critical conditions due to illegal mining activities (galamsey) industrial waste as well as household disposals. These environmental degradation activities place women and girls at the extreme margin of poverty and increases their vulnerabilities to safe drinking water and hygiene services.

W3 supports local-led solutions to WASH that promote the sustainability of safe water and related sanitation services in rural communities and villages. We facilitate a human rights approach that empower women and girls, give them a voice to engage Municipal, local authorities and local CSOs in the design, planning, construction and community management of projects related to safe water supply and related sanitation services in towns, villages, schools and health care facilities
